"I am hearing poetry when awake, dreaming poetry when asleep, breathing poetry with each breath, I am living in a poem."

Life Is A Musical

With infectious smile she tells me life is a musical
Just listen and you can hear its songs
With arms open she bids me to come dance

In her embrace I hear her heart’s drumbeat of passion
A rhythm arousing desire to play its song through me
With a twirl I hear a melody of joy in her laughter

As I hold her hand she tells me to listen to nature’s orchestra
Life in its movements of season to season
The tinkling bells of spring to the cold dirge of winter

We dance closer to the street as I hear the clashing cymbals of traffic
Metallic strings in a rock and roll chorus
Trying to hurry life on to an even faster pace

In our steps she conveys life is not without sorrow
The hymn of peace sung to a broken heart
Followed by the anthem of encouragement you are not alone

We continue to embrace as she teaches me life’s songs
Knowing it soon would have to end
In my heart I will always be dancing with her
Her teaching on the music of life now has my ears tuned to listen
No longer will I spend my life  in just the passage of time
But fill it with hearing the melodies of living

Raindrops At Midnight

Tossing and turning upon my bed of loneliness
My heart empty damaged by love’s betrayal
Tears pour from my eyes in my solitude
Like raindrops at midnight

The silence is so loud with the memory of you
Oh if only I could hear the quiet of forgetting
Your cologne still clings to air I am afraid to breathe
Because with each breath it reminds me you are gone

How long does it take a heart to mend
I have no way of knowing
Tomorrow sits on the horizon
But I haven’t the strength to take me there

Wind Chime Heart Song

Night’s silence broken by the melody of wind chimes
A breeze blown love song carried to a listening heart
The tune painting the memory of a beloved’s face
With tinkling strokes across the soul

Eyes closed in reverie sees arms enfolding
The cherished one with passion’s warmth
Surrounding them with forever hopes

Looking out the window a wish is spoken
To a star watching in the midnight sky
Watch over my love while we are apart
And may he too hear this wind chime heart song

Lonely Heart In A Waterfall

Raindrops falling on the windowpane
Trailing down the glass like tears
A saddened face looks out into loneliness

Heartbreak had visited her
Its step across the threshold
Had brought pain into a heart
Once filled with love and joy

His words of I no longer love you
Shattered her soul into a thousand questions
With no answers to even one

A lonely heart in a waterfall of broken dreams
She stands with her future frozen
In the iciness of her today

I Love You

I have all the letters of the alphabet
Yet I can not find the words
Lips move to speak, but nothing is said
Hands holding a pen can not write

How can I tell you I love you
I fear your rejection
Love’s declaration once spoken
Pleads for an answer in return

Oh my heart did not listen as I tried
To not fall in love with you
All my reasons why it should not be
Were drowned in pools of growing affection

Awash in this emotion I fear for my sanity
There is nothing else for me to do
But simply state that which floods my soul
I love you

A Little Girl and the Moon

Moonbeams in a midnight sky beckons a little girl
From her bed to sit among the stars and share her secrets
Small face glowing she whispers a wish on the wind
To be carried to her friend the moon

All alone in the moonlight she sits unafraid
Dreaming of what lies beyond the shadowed horizon
Lands where a fairy flies with wings of purple
Taking her on a journey just east of the sun

The night sounds tickle her ears as she hears the call of an owl
While frogs join in croaking chorus to sing of life on the pond
Fireflies twinkle their tiny lights as they rest on her hand

Slowly she stands to take one last glance at the moon
Blowing a kiss she says goodnight to her companion
Speaking a promise to return soon
With head on flowered pillow she falls asleep
Wrapped in the arms of the moon

Tear Stained Pieces

Your hello sounds like goodbye
I can hear the distance in your voice
Eyes that once promised forever
Now tell me you are already gone

Why tumbles across my heart
I can find no reason
Was I not enough

My soul in tear stained pieces
I must find my way into tomorrow
To stay here in my today
Is an affliction I won’t survive

Fairy Child

Laughter echoes through the woods
A girl more fairy than human
Plays peek a boo with sunbeams
That escape the leafed umbrella
Hanging above the pixie’s head

Tossing civilized trappings she
Roams the woodlands half dressed
In an unlikely parade of beast and child
As animals follow without fear

Splashing steps take her through streams
Sparkling with sunlit droplets
Her face alight in joyful admiration
Of Mother Nature’s living room

Hours spent in daydream adventure
Where imagination turns trees into bark clad knights
Standing guard over a tiny princess
With a twig as magic scepter that with a flick
Can turn leaves into a diamond carpet

Her days would be spent forever outdoors
If not for the calls sent on the wind to return home
Like a bird in a cage seeking to be set free
She waits for daybreak to fly once again
Into the forest she loves

Between Dreams and Daydreams

My heart lies suspended between dreams and daydreams,
not knowing whether to remain in closed eyed fantasy
or awaken to open eyed imagination.

In slumber’s wandering there is no one to judge
my unfettered delight to travel realms
not seen in the daylight.

On butterfly winged journeys of euphoria
I fly to destinations guided by passion’s spirit
where my heart unrestrained loves whom it will.

Enchantment wraps its spell around me
sending the one I desire to hold me
until dawn stirs me to awaken.

With sunlight provocation I arise to greet the day
saddened to leave my dreams,
yet  knowing with wide eyed expectation
daydreams will come when ignited by
the fuel of my imagination.
