Paper Stars In A Heavy Metal Sky

Paper stars in a heavy metal sky
hang from electric umbilical chords
threaded through neon comets.

In a universe of wood and brick
they collect penny wishes
until pockets are emptied.

As real as pretense they fall
into hands willingly raised to claim
starlight is formed from a light switch.

I especially like the first two lines and the last stanza. Excellent piece.

I take it as a start. (especially when one considers the wonder of your words)

Oh, my. That first stanza is just gorgeous, especially.
simple, yet different. I do not write about an object; so I liked the way you thought of it :)

The umbilical reference is wonderful and ... the ending a jolt of reality. I want to believe in the magic, not the electrical switch :)
